With the house restored, Seiko thanks the Mantisian, who says Ludris was honored to help even though Seiko cannot quite understand him. Momo extends her own thanks to Okarun and Aira, and Okarun admits he is glad the place is fixed since it felt like home, earning an open invitation to return. As the guests leave, Seiko notes they owe a proper debt and warns Momo there will be no bento today, which Momo waves off, urging her to rest. Jiji is then dragged by his parents to repair the Ayase house, only for the family to find it already whole, and Momo hushes them so her sleeping grandmother is not disturbed.

Walking Momo to school, Jiji apologizes for the trouble and reveals he has turned into the Evil Eye several times, startling her. Still, the yokai has behaved since his promise to Okarun, and Jiji feels closer to him. When Jiji asks if Momo likes anyone, she blushes furiously. Schoolgirls then crowd Jiji, and after one offers him a drink, the Evil Eye emerges, oddly without wrecking Jiji's clothes. Momo passes off his outburst as a joke and hauls him away, but he refuses to revert and causes chaos all day.

Distracted by onlookers reading him and Momo as a couple, the Evil Eye bolts to the soccer team, mistaking the ball for his grudge ball, and the players assume Jiji wants to join. With no hot drinks left in the machines, Momo resigns herself to watching the yokai all day, curbing its scribbling and outbursts in class and failing to convert it at lunch since only cold noodles remain. Afterward she meets Miko and Kei, who note Jiji's odd behavior, and Kei guesses a golden ball, the floating Apartment-Complex Ghost, has possessed him after he claimed it.

Once the home is fixed, everyone heads off and Seiko insists the favor must be repaid in full. Jiji and his parents arrive to help rebuild but discover the work already done. Heading to school, Jiji asks whether Momo fancies anyone, making her blush over Okarun. His flirting with a cluster of girls triggers the Evil Eye once one hands him a cold drink. True to his vow to Okarun, the spirit kills no one, yet behaves childishly and recklessly the entire day. Afterward, Miko and Kei point to the apartment-complex phantom, the entity resembling Okarun's final lost kintama.

Running nineteen pages, this Volume 8 chapter falls in the Kaiju Arc of the Kintama Hunt Saga and was released July 5, 2022. Episode 21 adapts it. Its cast includes the Apartment-Complex Ghost, Kei, Miko, the Evil Eye, Turbo Granny, Jiji and his parents, Chiquitita, Aira Shiratori, Okarun, Momo Ayase, Ludris, the Dover Demon, and Seiko Ayase.
