Tamao Oguro

Character

Tamao Oguro took up the guitar largely because it enraged her father, and that small act of defiance carried her into the path of Kuin Hachisuka, who took her body for a host. Freed at the price of her left eye, she is left to rebuild something with the man she spent years pushing against. She appears in My Hero Academia: Vigilantes.

Appearance

Green eyes and brown hair, rendered a warmer orange-brown in the anime, belong to a girl still in her teens. Her hair was long before Kuin took her; as a host it hung short with bangs draped across one eye. An eyepatch now covers the socket her left eye once occupied. Time in hospital after her rescue let the hair grow back out, and she has since taken to wearing it in a ponytail.

Personality

Kuin's occupation of her body means most of what is known about Tamao arrives secondhand, in fragments from her father's memories. Those fragments suggest an ordinary enough girl, if one inclined to butt heads with him, frustrated by a father who would not let her pursue music. That friction hardened into a streak of rebellion, expressed by ignoring his rules and keeping company with others who did the same.

On the rare occasions her own mind broke through Kuin's control, what came out was fury, aimed squarely at her father, evidence that some of the old resentment survived intact. In time she appears to have largely let go of the anger, though a want for his undivided attention lingers.

History

Iwao Oguro is her father, and her mother is dead. Her disputes at home centered on his refusal to let her be a musician, and by her own later admission the guitar never meant much to her in itself, appealing mostly because picking it up got under his skin.

At some point she was taken as the host of Kuin Hachisuka and spent an extended period with another consciousness driving her body, surfacing only in brief flashes. Throughout that time she carried Queen Bee, sharing the Quirk with the entity riding her rather than owning it. Removing Kuin from her body removed the Quirk with it, and whether Tamao possesses any power of her own has never been established. The ordeal cost her the left eye she now covers, and she was hospitalized afterward.
