Chapter 19 (Vigilantes)

Soga Kugisaki turns up outside a middle school with a photograph, asking students whether they recognize the girl in it and mentioning that her hair is cropped short at the back and hangs over one eye. The girls find the approach unsettling but admit the face resembles Kuin Hachisuka, and wonder aloud whether the girl has landed herself in trouble. One of them leaves as staff move him along, and he goes. Past an alleyway, a girl calls out asking what business he has with Kuin and what he intends if he actually finds her, since none of this looks clean. Soga answers that his role stops at delivering a message, and whether that qualifies as shady is not his call. Bees stream out from under her skirt while he works at a repellent canister with his spikes, and Moyuru Tochi burns the swarm to ash before it lands. Rapt Tokage waits on a motorcycle and tells him to climb on, while the others grumble that Soga keeps all the fun for himself.

At a hospital, Knuckleduster sits with his wife, a patient there, and talks over the years behind him, wishing the better life had come sooner. A nurse addresses the couple as the Oguros and passes on that the doctor wants a word. Afterward he tells his wife how little stock he puts in medical opinion, having been written off as hopeless more than once himself, and promises that Tamao will be looked after.

Soga meets him at the entrance, irritated that nobody named Kurogiwa is actually registered at the hospital. Knuckleduster explains the alias is only how he keeps in contact with people, which leaves Soga curious about the genuine one. Errands aside, Knuckleduster reads him as someone who does not pry. Soga reports that the uniform led him to the bee user's school, that it is a private one, and that she operates under a fictional name, all of which Knuckleduster files as intel. Soga notes how ugly this is turning and asks about his two friends, but Knuckleduster sees no reason to drag them in, saying he only used the Instant Villains to pull attention, and that men like them would never dress as All Might. Soga's friends think he should stay clear anyway. Koichi Haimawari catches up and cheerfully greets the villains while Pop Step tells him to keep away. Moyuru remarks on his nerve given the beating they once handed him, and Rapt angles for a closer look at Kazuho. Koichi says a great deal has changed, and Soga just walks off.

That night Kuin comes home, mentions to her mother that a stalker was asking after her, and hands her father back a credit card she has maxed out. She watches television and eats with them until the screen light shows both parents are corpses. Finding life dull now, she decides the family should move. On a rooftop, Knuckleduster trains, picks up the photograph, and tells himself this one has nowhere left to disappear to.

Tamao Oguro is introduced, though only through a photograph. Hospital staff reveal Knuckleduster's surname as Oguro, and Kurogiwa is exposed as an alias he uses for contacts. Soga narrows the bee user down to a private middle school and establishes that Kuin Hachisuka is not her real name. Kuin is shown sharing a home and a dinner table with her parents' corpses, and grows bored enough to want to relocate. Knuckleduster commits to running her down.

Nineteen pages, released December 9, 2017 and collected in volume 4 of My Hero Academia: Vigilantes, the spin-off by Hideyuki Furuhashi and Betten Court. It belongs to the Vs. Queen Bee arc and is adapted in Episode 10 of the Vigilantes anime. Knuckleduster carries the cover alone. Tamao Oguro is listed as the chapter's new character, and Iwao's unnamed wife also appears alongside Soga, Rapt, Moyuru, Koichi, Kazuho, and Kuin.
