Suyako Kamado

Suyako is a small young woman whose long black hair curves inward just past the shoulders, framed at the front by two short strands beside her face. Her wide eyes fade from black to a soft pink toward the bottom of the irises, rendered as sapphire in the anime, and she nearly always wears a broad smile.

Her outfit is a simple kimono, pale purple in the manga and pink in the anime, with a white cloth tied around the crown of her head.

In the memories Tanjiro witnesses, Suyako appears joyful and industrious, always doing her best for her children. Her caring nature shows when she finds Yoriichi unexpectedly in tears while holding Sumire and offers to feed him until he feels better. She also takes obvious delight in asking the swordsman to demonstrate his breathing forms, watching with fascination.

Little is recorded about Suyako beyond her marriage to Sumiyoshi Kamado and the birth of their son and daughter. Together they discover the house at Mount Kumotori once shared by Yoriichi Tsugikuni and his late wife Uta, and they make it their home.

She later appears to Tanjiro during his struggle against Hantengu, holding a basket of vegetables and remarking on how his black blade has turned bright red like Yoriichi's. In further memories, she emerges from the forest with her second child, marveling at the chestnuts she has gathered, then comforts a weeping Yoriichi with a gentle pat on the head. She repeatedly asks him to perform all twelve Sun Breathing forms for her children, and when he finally gives Sumiyoshi his earrings before departing, she grows saddened, only to be reassured by his parting smile (Chapter 192).
