With Zenitsu vanished and Tengen urging retreat, Tanjiro chooses to stay and fight. When Daki reveals herself in the Tokito House and seizes Koinatsu, he draws his blade and accepts that he must face Upper Rank Six on his own.
The thirty-seventh anime episode, the eleventh of season two, follows the fallout of Zenitsu's encounter with Daki. Certain she is a demon, Zenitsu disappears soon after, and Daki in turn marks him as a member of the Corps. Tengen tells Tanjiro and Inosuke to leave the district, but the boys resolve to press on, and Tanjiro is soon left standing alone against the Upper Rank.
On the rooftops, Tengen reveals that Zenitsu will not be coming and expresses regret for involving the boys, urging them to withdraw before vanishing. Tanjiro and Inosuke instead recommit, noting they have risen in rank, and agree to keep searching the houses while staying alive. Tanjiro reasons that the demon moves between the three houses through hidden passages and disguises itself as a human to avoid drawing attention with killings.
At the Tokito House, Tanjiro returns in uniform to pay his way and bid farewell to Koinatsu, who admits she had long known he was not a girl. He vows to rescue the missing, and she shares that she is leaving the district to marry. After he departs, Daki appears before Koinatsu and promises to devour her. Elsewhere, Inosuke arms himself by calling his swords from two hidden Ninju, and Tengen threatens the Kyogoku House owner, learning that Hinatsuru fell ill and was moved to the poorer Kirimise quarter.
Returning to the darkened Tokito House to warn Koinatsu, Tanjiro instead meets Daki, who has already absorbed the oiran into her obi. He recognizes the markings of Upper Rank Six in her eyes and demands her release. Daki swats him away, and as he steadies himself he realizes her obi is her true weapon, able to slip through narrow cracks to take victims. He cuts free the sash holding Koinatsu, then resolves that he has no choice but to face Daki alone.
The pre-opening sequence is an anime-original scene adapting a page from the ninth volume's extras. This installment was the final episode of the season to air in 2021. Much of the episode is devoted to repositioning the three boys for the coming battle and to Tanjiro's growing understanding of how Daki's obi allows her to move and hide throughout the district.

Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle earned $778 million globally and nearly 40 billion yen in Japan, but it still couldn't top Mugen Train's domestic record. Here's why that barely matters....

The transformation everyone knows, the follow-up question nobody would touch. Why we made a smooth R&B track about the golden glow Dragon Ball never talks about....
