Summary

Tengen reaches a residence in the Kirimise quarter and tends to Hinatsuru, who is recovering from the poison she swallowed. She urges him to leave her behind so he can track the disturbances rocking the district, then apologizes for not finishing her assignment. A flashback shows that, planted inside the Kyogoku House, she had identified Warabihime as the demon but held back rather than act rashly. To slip away without drawing notice she faked an illness with poison, yet the oiran handed her an obi rigged to watch and, if needed, kill her.

Tengen assures Hinatsuru that her work was more than enough, the subdued obi visible behind them. He tells her to flee the moment the antidote sets in, and she agrees as they hold each other. Returning toward the fight, he listens for the demon and traces faint tremors to an underground chamber. Drawing his weapons, he brings down Sound Breathing, First Form: Roar, splitting the floor with a blast loud enough for Daki to register far away.

Key Events

Tanjiro refuses to reveal how many slayers are in the district. Daki tries to bargain and rattle him, pointing to his nicked blade and renewed trembling, which makes him doubt himself. He recalls being weaker at Water Breathing than Sakonji or Giyu, and that the Hinokami Kagura lets him hit hard but not repeatedly. Steadying his focus and imagining Kyojuro's encouragement to keep his heart aflame, he answers her obi with Hinokami Kagura: Raging Sun.

As Daki studies his shift in technique, Tanjiro shears off a long stretch of obi and rushes her. He attempts a beheading with Flame Dance, which she barely dodges, then counters her obi strike using Fake Rainbow to vanish. Reappearing at her back, he unleashes Fire Wheel, and the chapter ends with his blade reaching her neck.
