The eightieth chapter of Demon Slayer revisits Makio's kunoichi past, lets Tengen reunite with his wives in the cavern, and watches Daki reclaim her obi and grow stronger, all while her reckless killing in the streets drives Tanjiro's anger to a breaking point.
As Tengen reaches the cavern, Makio looks back on her life as a kunoichi, trained to value survival over completing any mission. Marrying Tengen reinforced that lesson, since he always told his wives to come home alive first and trusted himself to shield the public afterward. Makio sometimes doubted whether his outlook was sound, but Hinatsuru reassured her that wishing to live carried no shame.
In the present, Tengen pats his wives on the head and praises their effort, moving Suma to tears as she clings to him. Inosuke berates the so-called god of festivities for letting the obi slip away, but Tengen snaps back in his wives' defense, noting they rescued everyone trapped below. Makio cuts in to insist they leave at once before conditions worsen, and he orders the group to follow.
Racing across the rooftops with Inosuke and Zenitsu trailing behind, Tengen heads for the battlefield. Mid-fight between Daki and Tanjiro, the obi suddenly streaks back and merges into Daki's body. Tanjiro recognizes that it is returning to her core and strikes, but she vanishes and resurfaces on a roof, her hair whitening as she revels in learning a Hashira is present.
A shopkeeper spots Tanjiro and tells him to take the fighting elsewhere, which infuriates Daki. She lashes out across the surrounding buildings, severing the man's arm and killing other bystanders. Tanjiro, bleeding badly himself, urges the man to bind a tourniquet. When Daki turns to leave, he vows she will not get away, and she dismisses him as just another rotting corpse. The chapter ends as his heart pounds harder and his eyes fill with rage.

Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle earned $778 million globally and nearly 40 billion yen in Japan, but it still couldn't top Mugen Train's domestic record. Here's why that barely matters....

The transformation everyone knows, the follow-up question nobody would touch. Why we made a smooth R&B track about the golden glow Dragon Ball never talks about....
