Summary

A flashback recalls Muzan visiting Daki at the Kyogoku House, where he tasked her with finding the demon who had slipped from his control like Tamayo. He described that target as wearing a hemp-patterned kimono and a checkerboard obi, and named Daki his final hope for capturing Nezuko. In the present, Daki swears she will kill Nezuko and present her at Muzan's feet. Nezuko charges to kick off Daki's head again, but Daki severs her leg with the obi, then uses the moment to blast her off the roof and into a building.

While the two demons fight, Tanjiro lies unconscious and dreams of his brother Takeo, who observes how alike Tanjiro and Nezuko are when kind and when angry. Takeo recalls a time he saw Nezuko enraged and how frightened he was at her disregard for her own safety.

Key Events

Daki drops down to Nezuko, who is pinned under rubble, mocking her as a half-formed demon who has eaten no others. She declares she will simply leave Nezuko trapped and exposed to the sun. Nezuko bursts free, instantly regrowing her leg and then her severed arm, unnerving Daki, who realizes the girl's healing rivals an Upper Rank demon's. Nezuko's body transforms: she snaps her bamboo muzzle, a horn sprouts on the right of her forehead, and vine-like demon crests spread across her skin.

Daki blocks one kick and slices the leg off with her obi, yet Nezuko still smashes her into the ground, the same leg piercing her body to pin her. Realizing Nezuko regrew it within an instant, Daki concedes that her regeneration outstrips her own. Nezuko slides into a frenzy. Still in the dream, Takeo taps Tanjiro's back and begs him to wake and help Nezuko, who no longer seems herself, jolting Tanjiro awake with worry.
