Shin-ichiro Miki

Miki voices Tanjuro Kamado in "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba," the anime produced by studio Ufotable. The calm, refined quality often noted in his performances fits the character, and the role joins a career that began in the late 1980s. By the time he took the part, Miki had been a prolific presence in anime and games for decades, frequently cast as composed or handsome figures, making him a natural choice for the gentle patriarch of the Kamado family.

Born March 18, 1968, in Tokyo, Miki belongs to the agency 81 Produce and is recognized for a distinctively smooth voice and a frequently unhurried delivery. Among his best-known roles are Youji Kudou in "Weiss Kreuz" and Kojiro, or James, in "Pokemon," along with Takumi Fujiwara in "Initial D" and Kisuke Urahara in "Bleach." His credits further include Lockon Stratos in "Mobile Suit Gundam 00," Tatsuma Sakamoto in "Gintama," Aikuro Mikisugi in "Kill la Kill," Roy Mustang in "Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood," Zamasu in "Dragon Ball Super," and Deishu Kaiki in the "Monogatari" series. In the "Pokemon" franchise he also voiced many of the creatures themselves, including Ash's Charizard.

Miki sings as part of the four-man band Weiss alongside Takehito Koyasu, Tomokazu Seki and Hiro Yuki, the main voice actors of "Weiss Kreuz," and he remains very active in BL dramas. He won the award for Best Actor in a supporting role at the 4th Seiyu Awards. A friend of Koichi Yamadera, Miki saw his son Kazuma follow him into voice acting and join the same agency in early 2025.
