Mugihito, born Makoto Terada in Musashino, Tokyo, is a veteran Japanese actor who voices Keel Lorenz, the shadowy chairman of SEELE, in Neon Genesis Evangelion.
Mugihito voices Keel Lorenz, the reclusive chairman of SEELE, the secretive committee that manipulates NERV from the shadows throughout Neon Genesis Evangelion. For most of the series the character is heard rather than seen, represented in council scenes as a tall black monolith among the other SEELE members, with his true form withheld until the story's climactic final stretch. The dry, commanding delivery Mugihito gives the role helped make Keel one of the franchise's most unsettling and quietly menacing figures.
A veteran performer from Musashino, Tokyo, Mugihito has worked as an actor, voice actor and narrator since the 1950s, recording for decades under his birth name Makoto Terada as well as the earlier stage name Mugihito Amachi before settling on Mugihito alone.
