Chūji

At a glance Chūji looks like an ordinary penguin, though the rockhopper traits give him golden plumes bracketing his eyes and a wispy tuft below his bill. He completes the effect with a woven straw hat, a draped cloak, and a toothpick clenched between his lips, an ensemble that reads like a roving Japanese killer-for-hire.

Stubborn to a fault, Chūji refuses to yield the instant a contest is on. Condor points out that even his open fear of King could not stop him from pressing his claim to Armadiko.

When Naruto Uzumaki set about rallying the island's creatures, Chūji was already brawling with Don and Hippo Boss, and the sudden arrival of King quickly flattened all three. The fight changed shape once Armadiko announced a crush on Naruto: the four suitors banded together against the intruder, and Chūji joined the chase across the island. Bruised and sulking, they later filed into the temple, glaring as Armadiko cosied up to their rival. Their outrage peaked when Naruto insisted on inspecting the animals' sexes for an ecological survey, and the ground soon buckled as the Island Turtle rolled over. Rescued by Yamato's quick wood technique, the group was left stunned to learn that the unconscious Armadiko was actually male, a revelation they went on to mourn together.
