Hippo Boss

In build he looks like any ordinary hippo, set apart by a long scar that runs from the top of his nose down to his snout. At his first appearance he and the other hippos turn up in suits, though his is white where theirs are black, worn over a purple shirt with a gold chain at the neck, the whole ensemble giving him the air of a yakuza boss.

Stubborn to a fault, Hippo Boss refuses to retreat from any challenge put before him. Condor observes that even his fear of King is not enough to make him surrender his claim to Armadiko.

By Condor's account, Hippo Boss is caught in a four-cornered feud with King, Chūji, and Don, each convinced he is the ideal mate for Armadiko, so that any gathering of the four erupts into a brawl. When Naruto Uzumaki sets about recruiting the Island Turtle's animals, Hippo Boss is already trading blows with Don and Chūji, and the arrival of King leaves the trio quickly flattened by the gorilla. The quarrel pauses only when Armadiko announces a crush on Naruto, at which the four unite in a vow to beat the newcomer senseless and give chase across the island.

Battered and sullen, they later file into the temple, glaring in envy as Armadiko cozies up to Naruto. Their jealousy turns to protest when Naruto explains that his ecological survey requires inspecting the animals to determine their sexes, prompted by the male kanji marked on Armadiko's shell. Tremors then upend the Island Turtle and fling the animals skyward until Yamato's timely wood technique catches them, and the group is left dumbfounded to learn that the unconscious Armadiko is in fact male, a revelation the four lament together.
