Korega

Korega wore his black hair in a short, fuzzy crop, with heavy black brows over brown eyes. A flak jacket covered him, its left breast bearing a red phoenix emblem.

Grave, formal, and hard-edged, Korega was above all a dutiful man. His loyalty held fast to the old king Kakeru Tsuki and, in turn, to Kakeru's son Michiru and grandson Hikaru. When the king was cast down and killed, that devotion turned to wrath, and he and his squad hurled themselves at Shabadaba's thugs in a vengeful frenzy, heedless of how badly they were outmatched.

Beyond directing the soldiers who served the Land of the Moon and warning Kakeru early about the threat Minister Shabadaba posed, Korega fought with a sabre, skilled enough to keep a host of his old comrades at bay while shielding Michiru. After Shabadaba confessed to betraying and murdering the king to seize the crown, he loosed a swarm of men on Michiru, Hikaru, and the rest. Korega arrived to pull Naruto's group out of danger, telling the enemies he struck that they had served the late king rather than the usurper. On Kakashi's instruction he spirited Michiru and Hikaru away by coach while Kakashi walled off the pursuit with Earth Release, then brought them before the dying Kakeru and wept at the ruler's passing. When the group later tried to reach the boats and escape, the Wandering Ninja Clan cut them off. Korega stepped in as Ishidate readied his Petrification Gauntlet to turn Kakashi to stone, declaring his own thirst for revenge over Kakeru's death. His sabre could not touch the nimble Ishidate, who toyed with him until Michiru's cry broke his focus; Ishidate laid a hand on his back and petrified him whole, then mockingly shattered the statue with Korega's own blade. His comrades grieved afterward, vowing to remember him as their greatest and strongest captain.
