Moegi Kazamatsuri

Moegi's look shifts with each chapter of her life. As a young Academy student she copied Naruto by wearing goggles, and a permanent flush sat across her cheeks. Her orange hair, gathered into two oversized pigtails held by red ties, became her signature; back then she paired a red tank top over a pink shirt with grey trousers and standard ninja sandals. During Part II she kept the pigtails but added a Konoha headband, switching to a sleeveless purple vest over a violet shirt, a tiered skirt, and boots reaching mid-thigh.

Adulthood softened the picture. The blush faded, bangs came down to frame her face, and she let her pigtails hang loose. Off duty she favours a sleeveless pink top finished with a red neck ribbon, a dark bracelet, and small hoop earrings, while on active jonin duty she wears a knee-length dark jumpsuit under a light vest, her headband knotted at her throat, a band on each wrist, and heeled sandals. Her eyes, once plainly dark, take on a more purple cast.

Bright, self-assured, and free-spirited, Moegi was also described in her youth as spoiled yet driven. By Part II she had picked up a temper reminiscent of Sakura, once decking Konohamaru herself for inventing a technique she found both crude and pointless. She regularly scolds him for his lewd humour, though her fondness for him is genuine. Her courage shone during Pain's attack, when she rushed to shield a young boy named Sota and threw herself between him and one of Pain's summoned beasts.

Adulthood sharpened her into a stern instructor, quick to bristle when her students misbehave or abandon an assignment, and she loves needling Konohamaru about the brotherly way Boruto brushes off his authority. That Matsuri, the tree entity born from her chakra and feelings, behaved bashfully around Konohamaru and grew jealous over his thoughts of Moegi hints that she once harboured romantic feelings for her old teammate.

Moegi first appears as one of the children trailing after Konohamaru, showing up around the Chunin Exams and being guided to safety with the other civilians during the Oto-Suna invasion. By the start of Part II she has become a genin on Team Ebisu, and it is during Pain's rampage that she performs her bravest deed, rescuing the boy Sota from a giant centipede. After the Fourth Shinobi World War swept everyone into the Infinite Tsukuyomi, she was bound by the Ten-Tails' roots until Naruto and Sasuke broke the genjutsu, and she later attended the mass memorial in Konoha. During the peace that followed she helped set up Naruto and Hinata's wedding reception.

By the New Era she had risen to jonin and taken charge of a genin team, teaching at the Academy and repeatedly reining in her students across cases involving the Byakuya Gang, a threatened film crew, Mitsuki's disappearance, and the arrival of Ada and Daemon. Her skills matured alongside her rank: she gained sensory perception and learned to command both Earth and Water Release, raising walls to halt landslides and loosing volleys of water, and through some undisclosed means she can even fuse the two into Wood Release. That growth let her hold her own against Sarada's Sharingan.

Her story took a dark turn when Code assaulted Konoha. While shielding a mother and child, a Claw Grime devoured Moegi and sprouted into a small tree feeding on her chakra, giving rise to the God Tree Matsuri. Only after Konohamaru and Boruto brought Matsuri down and recovered her Thornsoul was Moegi freed, hospitalised for malnutrition but grateful, thanking Konohamaru for the rescue.
