An Opening

Tobirama spares Naruto, Sasuke, and Minato by flinging a Truth-Seeking Ball on the verge of detonation back toward Obito, made possible by a Flying Thunder God mark he had already placed. Naruto compliments him on wielding his father's technique, and Tobirama corrects him that the jutsu is his own creation. Far off, Madara and Hashirama trade blows while the Allied shinobi look on in awe, and Shikamaru rallies the troops that their moment is still coming. Madara promises Hashirama a different ending than their previous clash.

Minato aims to force a gap with his teleportation, drawing Tobirama's jab about his naming habits. Sasuke's Amaterasu is deflected once Obito senses the chakra pooling in his left eye. Tobirama and Minato tag one another, then swap places at the instant Naruto and Sasuke's merged Rasenshuriken and Kagutsuchi close in, landing the blow and stripping Obito of his orbs. Sakura, spotting the black flames, learns from Hinata that the two boys are grinning.

The Truth-Seeking Balls snap back to Obito, cancelling the hit and leaving him unmarked. Noticing Minato's arm fails to regenerate, Tobirama deduces the orbs use Yin-Yang Release to void ninjutsu. Gamakichi fires one final strike before the summon expires. Minato appeals to Obito's old wish of becoming Hokage, but Obito dismisses it, blaming Minato's failures for making it easy to surrender the dream. Naruto counters that a man who never earned the title has no standing to mock one who did, then, teleported behind Obito by Tobirama, drives home a senjutsu Rasengan that wounds him, confirming their theory. Minato marvels at Naruto's Sage Mode, and the Yin half of Kurama within him praises the boy for winning over its Yang counterpart.

Tobirama redirects a Truth-Seeking Ball to save his allies and reveals the Flying Thunder God Technique as his own. Coordinated teleportation lets Naruto and Sasuke's combined Rasenshuriken and Kagutsuchi strike Obito, though the returning orbs undo the damage. The team realizes the Truth-Seeking Balls nullify ninjutsu via Yin-Yang Release. A senjutsu Rasengan, delivered through Tobirama's teleport, wounds Obito and confirms senjutsu can bypass his defense, while the Yin Kurama commends Naruto's cooperation with its Yang half.

The episode belongs to the Birth of the Ten-Tails' Jinchūriki arc and adapts chapters 641 and 642. It aired in Japan on 25 September 2014 and in English on 4 April 2017. Crimson Lotus opens the episode and Never Change feat.Lyu:Lyu closes it.
