Boruto episode 216 pushes Naruto and Sasuke to their limits against Isshiki Ōtsutsuki, who intends to use Boruto as a living sacrifice. With every option exhausted, Kurama offers Naruto one lethal last resort: Baryon Mode.
Stranded in an unfamiliar place, Naruto and Boruto face Isshiki, whose remaining lifespan is running short. Bent on punishing Amado for exposing his plans, Isshiki attacks, shrinking past Naruto to seize Boruto and noting that Momoshiki's Kāma is roughly eighty percent unsealed. Sasuke trades places with Boruto and lunges with a Chidori, but Isshiki catches his wrist and flings him aside, wary of the Rinnegan. He decides to finish the pair here, betting their deaths will crush Konoha's resolve and pry Kawaki loose. Meanwhile Kawaki wakes from a dream of Jigen to learn his own Kāma has vanished, erased when Jigen's body was used to resurrect Isshiki.
Naruto pins Isshiki with chakra arms and clones so Sasuke can strike, but Isshiki conjures crushing cubes, skewers Naruto with chakra rods, and traps him between two blocks. When Isshiki aims rods at Boruto, Sasuke switches in and takes the hit. Amado explains that a Ten-Tails must devour a living Ōtsutsuki to become a God Tree, and Boruto realises he is the intended prey. His threat to end his own life with a kunai fails, since Isshiki simply shrinks the blade, and Sasuke orders the boy to run. Isshiki admits he cannot kill Boruto but can hurt him, breaking his wrist and pinning him underfoot while laying out the sacrifice.

Naruto vs Luffy with the twist nobody asked for: Luffy tickled Hinata on date night, and she kind of liked it. We break down the whole fight and commit to a winner....

Naruto built the transformation jutsu himself, and the Hidden Leaf has been quietly not talking about it ever since. The story behind our 90s R&B record about the Naruko question everybody dodges....
Out of ideas, Naruto turns to Kurama, who reveals a final option that guarantees certain death and warns him not to choose it lightly. Naruto accepts, and the two tear free of the cubes as a strange new power leaves everyone puzzled. The episode adapts chapters 50 and 51 of the Kawaki Arc. Trivia notes that it is the first in the franchise to delay the title card until well after the opening, whose closing shot gains a subtle glow. It aired in Japan on 19 September 2021 and in English on 13 June 2023.
