Shikadai's Decision

Team 10 rounds up a band of raiders at a wind power plant, but when Shikadai rushes to grab one alone, a dropped explosive tag scars the structure. Inojin and Chocho note that he has been unusually short-tempered and distracted. The trouble traces back a month, to a banquet Temari is invited to attend with prominent Land of Wind figures. There, the clan elder Enchu lectures Shikamaru on politics and appearances and insists Shikadai sharpen the Nara shadow techniques, a demand Shikadai happens to overhear. Pressed on why he tolerates the man, Shikamaru explains the family has owed Enchu since Shikaku's day.

Shikadai discovers his squad was benched at Enchu's request, meant to keep him from embarrassing the clan, and that the elder wants to steer him toward politics, offering to stop hounding Shikamaru if Shikadai agrees. He raises it at home, where Temari is taken aback and Shikamaru backs him only if the choice is his own. Later, helping Denki service the damaged plant, Shikadai spins a broken windmill turbine with Wind Release so Denki can repair a failing battery, then saves him from a collapsing ceiling with the Shadow Imitation Technique.

A Boruto series installment, the episode marks Shikadai returning to his wind chakra training. He rejects the political route, asks Temari to teach him proper Wind Release, and turns Enchu's paperwork away, prompting the elder to wash his hands of the family. He shares the reversal with his friends at the Lightning Burger.
