The Demon Beast Appears!

Sai searches the abandoned base of Tanuki Shigaraki, a former Root researcher loyal to Danzo who was tasked with building a weapon called Gozu Tenno from Hashirama's cells. The man is gone, but a photograph of him beside a young girl points Sai toward the real perpetrator. Mitsuki tells Boruto that Sumire has been behind the incidents, while Shikamaru briefs Naruto on the discovery. Kakashi reaches the Hokage's office and takes responsibility alongside Tsunade for choosing not to publicly name everyone once connected to Root. Unconvinced of Sumire's guilt, Boruto listens as Mitsuki explains the attacks were meant to harvest chakra, and a disturbance erupts from Senju Park.

Kakashi reveals that the Gozu Tenno weapon has been implanted inside Sumire's body. Naruto arrives ready to finish Nue in one blow, and Kakashi warns that doing so would only feed the beast and risk a detonation, since it was engineered as a suicide device. Boruto reaches Sumire, halts the clash between her and Mitsuki, and his eye sparks as Nue teleports to Sumire, absorbs her chakra, and begins to vanish with Boruto leaping after it.
