The Mysterious Transfer Student!

An expelled student stirs up trouble out of spite, and Boruto senses the same shadowy aura he has noticed clinging to others. Iwabee shields him long enough to land a hit, and when the outnumbered attacker flees behind a screen of dust, Boruto gives chase, only to find him already knocked out by a young man who remarks how rowdy Konoha is. Shino soon presents that newcomer to the class as Mitsuki, a transfer from Otogakure, and while the students trade impressions, Mitsuki settles in beside Boruto and strikes up a conversation.

In class Boruto breezes through a board problem and demands something harder, mocking Shino as a sore loser when handed a tougher one, until Mitsuki solves it and quietly debates the teacher on whether students should help one another. Sparring pits Iwabee against Boruto, who loses, after which Mitsuki asks to face Iwabee and gets carried away, choking him until Boruto snaps him back to his senses and he apologizes. That evening Shino confides his struggles as a teacher to Kurenai, who tells him to trust his own approach, while Mitsuki speaks with someone through a white snake.

Shino's welcome party for Mitsuki collapses when his insects run wild; Mitsuki clears them with Wind Release but wrecks more of the Academy in the process, and the students' muttered disrespect leaves the teacher crushed enough to request time off. A rampaging repairman under the dark spectre's influence then tears through the building, and Mitsuki notes that Boruto can perceive it, prompting Shikadai to suspect Mitsuki is behind the outbursts. Sarada draws the man out, Shikadai pins him, and Iwabee strikes, but he refuses to fall, so Boruto tackles him off a balcony until Mitsuki's Wind Release breaks their fall and the spectre departs. Later, worn down by his students' contempt, Shino himself is possessed. The next day he summons Boruto, Shikadai, and Mitsuki for an extra lesson, and as they sense something wrong about him, he announces he will give them their final lesson.

Mitsuki transfers into the Academy from Otogakure and quickly draws attention, both for his skill and his ties to a hidden contact. Boruto's ability to see the dark spectre marks him as unusual, and Shikadai briefly suspects Mitsuki of causing the disturbances. After repeated humiliations, Shino is taken over by the spectre and ominously calls the three boys in for a final lesson.
