Kou Yaten / Sailor Star Healer

Smallest of the three idols, Yaten keeps long silver hair in a low tail, has green eyes, and wears emerald earrings. The stage outfit layers a blue button shirt and red tie beneath a light blue jacket with a yellow rose in the left pocket, over matching trousers and white loafers. Enrolled at Juban High, he wears a distinct uniform that marks the trio apart from the ordinary schoolboys.

For studio tapings and commercials he switches to a casual look built on the standard boys' uniform: a dark blue open jacket, a pink short-sleeved undershirt, dark blue slacks, and sneakers trimmed in lavender, an outfit that later becomes his usual off-duty wear. Transforming turns the young man into a woman of middling height for a Starlight. The guardian wears a black two-piece with boots to the thighs and long gloves, accented in light green through a criss-cross choker, beaded belts, and wrist bracelets, topped by a golden tiara and star earrings.

In the anime Yaten comes across as guarded and standoffish, content to read by himself and fixed on the errand that brought him, Seiya, and Taiki to Earth. He makes little secret of his low opinion of humans, irritated that fans profess love for someone they do not actually know, and he treats guardian duty with grave seriousness, even scolding Minako for putting an idol contest above her obligations. A soft spot surfaces around cats: in one episode he claims Luna as his own, works to protect her once she is hurt, and warms to her further on learning she belongs to Usagi.

Sailor Star Healer debuts in episode 173, having escaped to Earth with the other Starlights after Sailor Galaxia destroyed their world. Posing as a student and one third of the wildly popular Three Lights, she keeps watch for their missing princess. Her spiritual sense is the keenest of the group, letting her feel the moment Galaxia or her servants seize a Star Seed.

Distrust of humans drives her to keep Usagi at arm's length, especially once Usagi's identity as Sailor Moon comes out, and she pushes to locate Kakyuu quickly so the group can leave. Her heart changes by the end, and she takes a stand at Sailor Moon's side, declaring that a girl carrying such warm light was never meant to vanish. After Kakyuu is killed she joins the others against Galaxia, and once the enemy is healed she and the Starlights return home with their princess to rebuild.
