The Hero Party storms the monster-infested village in search of records, but the swarm forces a frantic retreat. Pinned down together in a ruined orphanage, Himmel and Heiter look back on the childhood that bound them, and Heiter finally makes peace with the doubt he once cast on his best friend.
The companions charge into the monster den that has swallowed Kiesel's former home, but the sheer number of beasts quickly turns their assault into a flight, with Heiter hauling Eisen and Himmel carrying Frieren. When a diving dragon snatches Eisen and hurls him into the distance, Heiter's wails cut off the instant Frieren reminds him such a fall means nothing to the dwarf. Himmel seems poised to rally the group, yet his grand plan amounts to fleeing as fast as their legs allow.
Reunited with an unharmed Eisen at the crater he punched into the earth, the warriors agree a head-on attack is hopeless. Heiter then casts a spell that masks them from mana detection, and once Frieren confirms the monsters have lost their trail, the party slips toward the village under cover. The stealth stirs Himmel's nostalgia for their early days, and Frieren's jab about the group blundering into obvious traps back then earns a reminder that she stumbled into plenty herself.
Creeping in from the rear, the party weaves through gutted buildings, scaling rafters and slipping beneath broken walls until they near the chief's house. Frieren's senses catch a lurking monster just as the same dragon sweeps back and rains fire down, scattering everyone. Himmel and Heiter end up sheltering together and realize the ruin around them was once an orphanage, which sends Himmel drifting into memory.
He recalls a young Heiter as a sharp-tongued but caring boy, the first person he ever told of his dream to be a hero. The lighthearted ribbing gives way to a real apology as Heiter owns his old cruelty, having once sworn his friend would never be anything but a fraud, and confesses he wishes he had believed sooner. Himmel answers that the doubt only drove him harder, then asks whether Heiter believes in him now, and this time the answer comes without hesitation. A blast outside reveals Frieren and Eisen taking the dragon on, and the reunited party brings it down before turning up writings on the Goddess's Monument among the chief's books.
