The forty-seventh chapter spends a calm interlude on small kindnesses, as Frieren scrambles to soothe a sulking Fern with sweets, Wirbel borrows Stark as a vanguard, and a gift from two grateful girls reminds Frieren why Himmel helped people at all.
Stark sits in meditation on a cliff under the eye of an old man he claims not to know. Hunting for him, Frieren asks his help in smoothing things over with an irritated Fern, who, when approached, simply announces that she wants snacks. Elsewhere, a lavishly dressed Lawine grumbles about being coddled by her mother and brothers until Kanne's teasing earns her a yank on the pigtails.
At a bakery, Frieren and Stark fumble over which sweets might please Fern. Lawine and Kanne wander in, chat with the group, and the two parties head out together. On the street Wirbel stops them, sizing up Stark's build before asking to borrow the warrior as a vanguard, and Stark leaves with him and Scharf. The others return to the inn, where Lawine and Kanne press a basket of treats on Frieren to thank her for getting them through the opening trial. The gesture stirs a memory of Himmel, who held that being remembered only required changing a person's life a little. Frieren smiles, sensing she has done just that, while Fern's mood finally lifts with the sweets in hand. Across the region, birds carry word to the remaining candidates that Sense will oversee the second stage.
Wirbel recruits Stark as a vanguard ahead of the next trial. Lawine and Kanne thank Frieren with a basket of baked treats, echoing Himmel's belief in leaving a small mark on others. Messenger birds inform the surviving examinees that the second stage will be run by Sense.

The transformation everyone knows, the follow-up question nobody would touch. Why we made a smooth R&B track about the golden glow Dragon Ball never talks about....
