Wanna Kiss?

Kisa asks Hiro about his pregnant mother, Satsuki, whom he frets over because of her clumsiness. Satsuki greets the pair, teasing that Hiro will make a fine husband someday and leaving him flustered. Then Rin passes by, pale and unwell. She brushes off Hiro's concern, insists there is no way to lift the curse, and walks away in despair.

Rin turns up at Shigure's house convinced he knows how to break the curse, since Akito seems to favor him. She even offers herself as payment for the answer. Shigure calls her desperate, denies knowing anything, and names himself the worst possible person to ask, yet she remains sure he is concealing something. Searching his boxes, she recalls her past with Haru until illness overtakes her and she collapses, found by Tohru in the otherwise empty house.

Rin's memories unfold: a childhood that looked flawless until she grasped that her parents genuinely resented her as a burden. Haru played with her, once found her collapsed in the street, and stood up to her parents at the hospital when they told her plainly they neither loved nor wanted her, a defense she quietly thanked him for. She moved in with Kagura afterward, and as the two grew older Haru asked whether she wanted to kiss him and confessed his love, which she returned even as she feared her feelings might crush him. When Akito discovered their relationship, Rin claimed she had seduced Haru to protect him. Akito slapped her, spat that he despised women, branded her worthless, and shoved her off a second-story balcony onto a rock as Hiro watched. Falling, she thanked Haru for seeing worth in her and wished only for his happiness, even at the cost of her own.

The title comes from a line of Hatsuharu's, and, as with episode 16, the ending song closes on an instrumental passage. It adapts chapters 78 and 79. Recurring shots of a doll symbolize the fracture in Isuzu's family, appearing through her flashbacks and her confession to Haru. Various inner monologues were trimmed, and Hiro's reaction to Isuzu's fall was slightly expanded so he is shown rushing to the window to find her bleeding below.
