Sarquiss

Standing tall with a muscular frame and pale skin, Sarquiss wears his wavy blue hair down to the shoulders and keeps a purple-tinted visor across his eyes. A coat trimmed in white fur hangs open over his bare torso, accented by golden chains at the neck. His gloves and trousers share a red-and-white stripe pattern, cinched with a gold belt. Inked onto his exposed chest is Doflamingo's Jolly Roger, the crossed-out smiley, and the same mark appears on his belt. In his younger days he went without the visor, instead wearing a yellow long-sleeved shirt under a dark red jacket and carrying a sword across his back.

Sarquiss comes across as none too sharp, yet just as smug and self-obsessed as the rest of Bellamy's crew. He showed a snobbish, contemptuous side when he tossed Luffy, Zoro, and Nami some coins out of pity so they might buy better clothes. Reading their refusal to retaliate against Bellamy as cowardice, he dismissed Luffy's swift takedown of his captain as a fluke and even tried to pick a fight with the young pirate, only to flinch the moment Luffy actually turned to face him. He failed to learn from the lesson, soon insulting Blackbeard and trash-talking Luffy again, earning a beating for his trouble.

Like his captain, he is a firm believer that a New Age is dawning and sneers at anyone who voices a dream. He also clings to the mistaken idea that a bounty measures a person's fighting strength, which leads him to overrate his own abilities.

The 38,000,000 Berry bounty on Sarquiss marks him as a recognized threat, and he displays a good deal of agility. Even so, Mont Blanc Cricket overpowered him with ease, and Blackbeard later flattened him without any real effort. His signature weapon is the giant dagger that earned him his nickname, a blade that resembles an enormous kukri, which he likes to twirl like a windmill to show off. His one named technique, Big Chop, has him spin his body vertically while wielding the Big Knife, turning himself into a kind of human buzz-saw; he first unleashed it on Masira, slicing him repeatedly mid-leap. Back when the Bellamy Pirates still operated in the North Blue, he instead carried a katana across his back.

His past begins in Notice, a quiet town in the North Blue where his crewmates were also born. As a child he absorbed the fairy tale Liar Noland and the warnings that habitual liars would be executed like Mont Blanc Noland. Grown, he and the others set out as pirates, and a meeting with Donquixote Doflamingo granted them the right to fly his Jolly Roger so long as they never dishonored it.

During the Jaya Arc, Sarquiss backed Bellamy's cruel treatment of a card player named Roshio and later sneered at Luffy's group, dropping money before them as an insult. He looked on as Bellamy attacked Luffy in the bar, only for Luffy to fell the captain with a single punch. Sarquiss could not accept it, and Luffy's wanted poster blowing into his face drove the truth home. He challenged the departing Luffy, then collapsed in fright when the Straw Hat simply turned around. Soon after, he picked a fight with Blackbeard, who drove his head into the ground. Later, when Doflamingo paid the humiliated crew a visit, the warlord used his strings to force Sarquiss to slash his own captain with the Big Knife as punishment. He afterward traveled with Bellamy to a Sky Island and found a golden pillar, but his fate after Bellamy disbanded the crew to join the Donquixote Pirates is left unknown.
