Sam

Sam is drawn as an ordinary human criminal with no distinctive costume or design. The series shows him twice over, first as the living robber and later only as a skeleton left dangling above the city.

Sam carries the swagger of a petty thief who thinks he has every angle covered. He waves off his partner's fear of Darkwing, insisting the vigilante cannot be everywhere at once, and even cornered he answers with defiance, snapping a sarcastic retort rather than surrendering his boss.

Little is recorded of Sam's past beyond his work as a low-level thief serving an unnamed employer alongside his friend. One night in Midnight City the two pried open a building with a crowbar, only for the friend to spot Darkwing watching from above. Sam swung the crowbar at the vigilante, took a punch, and found himself locked in magnetic restraints that hauled him up to the water tanks. Darkwing pressed the pair about who had hired them and what they were after, and Sam only threw back a mocking line about not being rats. A call drew Darkwing away with a promise to return the next day, but Omni-Man killed him before he could. Roughly a year later, as Invincible flew into Midnight City, the skeletal remains of Sam and his friend still hung from the tanks, proof that no one had ever cut them down and that both had died of starvation and thirst.
