Dupli-Kate

Kate is a lean Chinese woman standing slightly taller than average, with fair skin, monolid brown eyes, and black hair cropped into a short bob. In costume she wears a turtleneck suit in dark purple and lavender with mid-length sleeves, long lavender gloves reaching up her arms, and an emblem bearing a number. Every duplicate carries a numeral marking its place in the sequence, and the figure labeled zero is the true original.

Kate carries herself with cool confidence and a no-nonsense streak, blunt where others soften the truth and prone to a jaded outlook. She cooperates well but keeps people at arm's length, and constantly splitting into copies has at times blurred her own sense of identity.

Her choices in the third season paint her as self-absorbed. After secretly surviving the Lizard League's assault on the Pentagon, she let her team and the agency believe her dead, citing a need for solitude, a silence that nearly drove her brother Paul to beat Rex Splode to death. Confronting the Guardians afterward, she brushed off Shrinking Rae and Rex's anger as an overreaction and insisted she had endured as much as anyone.

There is a hidden weight to her behavior, though. Because she feels every wound her duplicates take, she suffers pain many times over, which draws her toward the Immortal as a fellow survivor of endless loss. Her failure to grasp how mortality feels for those without her gift still leaves her hard for others to like.

Kate's defining gift is the power to conjure copies of herself on command, willing them to break away from her body and later folding them back in. Each copy thinks and acts on its own yet stays mentally tied to the rest, so every one of them shares the same knowledge and sensations, pleasure and pain together. Where her brother spawns hundreds, she tends to field only three or four at once, hinting that too many begin to strain her.

She backs the ability with genuine combat training, blending wrestling, Jiu-Jitsu, Taekwondo, boxing, and Muay Thai. Her power does have a clear limit: she needs room to split, so pinning or restraining her, as the Komodo Dragon once did, shuts the duplication down entirely.
