Boom Boom Family

The Boom Boom Family is a clan of minor villains in Steel Ball Run, brought in by a foreign nation to work as hired killers. All three members draw on the same Stand, Tomb of the Boom, which lets each of them manipulate iron in a different way.

The family joins the Steel Ball Run not to win but to collect on a contract, taking money to assassinate Johnny Joestar and Gyro Zeppeli. Because their shared Stand splits its powers among them, they fight as a coordinated unit rather than as separate racers.

They serve as early antagonists of the seventh part, a violent obstacle placed before the heroes ahead of the race's greater threats, and their defeat becomes the moment that first awakens Johnny's Stand, Tusk.

Benjamin Boom Boom is the patriarch and the group's driving force, and the only member confirmed dead after the clash. His sons, Andre and L. A. Boom Boom, round out the trio, both left in uncertain fates once the fighting ends. Every one of the three names is lifted from a piece of the rapper Andre Lauren Benjamin's full name.

The family gained Tomb of the Boom while prospecting for mines within a Devil's Palm. During the race's first stage they slaughter three competitors, alerting Mountain Tim, a fellow racer who works as sheriff and bounty hunter. In the second stage Andre lures Gyro and Johnny by faking a lizard bite, hoping to make them touch him and fall under his Stand, while Benjamin and L. A. move in with their magnetic powers. The heroes escape, but Benjamin keeps the magnet effect alive by flicking Andre's blood onto Johnny and manipulates Mountain Tim into the chase. When Benjamin and L. A. finally corner all three, Johnny's newborn Tusk cuts Benjamin in half and severs one of L. A.'s feet, leaving the crippled son to swear revenge before Tim predicts that thirst will finish him off, stranded in the desert.
