Episode 18

Henry Henderson tells his class that midterms arrive in two weeks, with a Stella Star awaiting the top two scorers in each subject and a Tonitrus Bolt punishing every failed paper. Anya, coming off a 13 percent history quiz, quietly plots to lift answers from Damian's mind during the exams, then panics on the bus home: the test day lands on a new moon, and her power shuts down during that phase, a weakness she calls Eclipsing. Cheating is off the table.

Loid's coaching goes nowhere because his noisy thoughts wreck her concentration, so Yor remembers that her brother once offered to tutor. Yuri arrives within seconds of the call, meets his niece for the first time, and floods her head with overwhelming devotion to Yor. His session lurches between fury at her ignorance and gentleness whenever Yor watches, but his speech that knowledge is power, and that studying let him protect his sister, genuinely fires Anya up, even as she mangles his words into nonsense about a swole chihuahua. He storms out upon learning she never grasped grammar, privately concluding that he is the one lacking power after failing to catch Twilight. Anya, moved by the thought that a smarter girl could have defused the bomb during the terrorist incident, throws herself into a workbook. Loid then discovers she has been drilling a subject that is not even on the midterms and silently mourns Operation Strix.

In the second half, a disguised Twilight infiltrates Eden after the exams to fix Anya's answers before grading begins. He spots another intruder heading for the records vault: Daybreak, a cheerfully incompetent spy who names himself Twilight's rival. Hired to tamper with the Desmond brothers' tests, Daybreak smashes windows, forgets identification, and writes his mission on his palm, forcing Twilight to bail him out repeatedly just to avoid attention. Daybreak flunks Damian and Demetrius's papers and signs his own name to the work, so Twilight quietly restores the scores, since Damian's success keeps his mission alive. Five days later the postings show Damian 11th in class with a History Stella, while Anya sits 213th of 228 yet passes every subject by reading Loid's mind beforehand, dodging all Tonitrus Bolts. Daybreak is fired over the phone.

Anya's Eclipsing weakness is spotlighted: her telepathy dies whenever a new moon rises, removing her usual safety net for the midterms.

Yuri meets Anya for the first time and becomes her tutor, delivering his knowledge-is-power philosophy.

Daybreak debuts as a rival spy hired by a Desmond enemy to sabotage Damian and Demetrius's exam scores; Twilight reverses the tampering.

Damian earns a Stella Star for placing in the top two in History, while Anya barely passes everything and avoids any Tonitrus Bolts.

The episode adapts Chapter 26 in its first half and Chapter 27 in its second, within the Midterm Exams Arc. It first aired in Japan on November 5, 2022.

The English subtitles and dub rework Anya's misheard line into "no (dog) leash is power," replacing the manga's swole chihuahua gag. The anime also names Demetrius far earlier than the Japanese manga did, and it shows one of his exam papers, a History test he nearly aced, which the manga never depicted.

Continuity slips appear on screen: Loid punches in "3716" at the vault although the teachers earlier used a five-digit code, and the midterm scoreboard misspells Becky's name as "Beckey Blackwell."
