Yomi Yomi no Mi

A Paramecia consumed by Brook, this fruit toughens a person's spirit until it can return them to life a single time following their first death, alongside several further powers drawn from the soul, turning the eater into a Reviving Human. Its name traces to yomigaeru, meaning to be reborn or resuscitated, rooted in yomi, the Japanese underworld, so the label reflects a return from the afterlife. Translations dub it the Revive-Revive Fruit. The fruit itself is a golden sphere with a green stem and four stubby bumps beneath that lend it a skull-like silhouette, marked all over with the usual swirls.

Its headline strength grants a fresh chance at living after one death has occurred, a form of borrowed immortality lasting until a second death arrives; until that first death, though, the power lies dormant and the eater gains nothing but the standard vulnerabilities. When the soul does return from the land of the dead it does not snap back into place, so the disembodied spirit must hunt down its own corpse to rejoin it, and the body keeps decaying meanwhile. Crucially the revived being still feels pain, proof of true life, which sets it apart from the mindless zombies of the Kage Kage no Mi. After the timeskip Brook learned to project his soul from his mouth like astral travel, passing through walls, and mastering the energy his soul radiates lets him mend his bones, freeze foes with an underworld chill, and even overwhelm the small borrowed souls that make up Big Mom's homies.

Brook is the fruit's holder. Its secondary gifts keep him effectively alive as a skeleton: he speaks without vocal cords, tastes and digests food, and even produces tears, blood, and other matter despite lacking the organs to make them, with milk swiftly repairing his broken bones through its calcium. His light frame lets him leap enormous heights and dash across water, though he still sinks like any Devil Fruit user if submerged, and his lack of flesh spares him from attacks that rely on tearing tissue while making him electrically fearless. His named soul-powered techniques, mostly sword arts such as Kasuriuta: Fubuki Giri and Ekakiuta: Hitoyogiri, channel the freezing Chill of the Underworld into his blade Soul Solid.
