Soul Solid is Brook's sword-cane, a shikomizue concealed inside a purple walking stick. Remarkably durable after decades of use, it channels the icy energy of his soul once he masters his Devil Fruit, earning it the nickname of the Freezing Sword.
This weapon is the shikomizue belonging to Brook, a hidden blade built into a cane. Its name only surfaced after the timeskip, when Brook told Zeo what the sword was called and what it could do, so whether it carried the title beforehand is never made clear. It first appears in the story as the ordinary-looking cane Brook holds when he is introduced.
Sheathed, the item passes for a plain purple walking stick, with the outer cane doubling as the scabbard. Drawn, the inner section is a straight blade honed on both edges and fitted with no guard, since the sword's hilt is also the handle of the cane. The steel is unusually tough, holding up through more than fifty years and countless fights before the Longarm Tribe reground it during the timeskip. Brook can further charge the weapon by wrapping the blade in his own soul through his Devil Fruit power, drawing the bitter cold of the underworld into the living world so that the edge turns freezing. Because of this trait he dubbed it the Freezing Sword, and he pairs the chilled blade with an elegant fighting form.
Brook alone wields Soul Solid. His combat style borrows from classical fencing and iaido, prizing speed and exactness, a discipline he picked up from fellow soldiers in the Raider Squad of the Esperia Kingdom. Most of his moves take their names from songs and dances mixed with fencing vocabulary, usually in French and occasionally in Japanese. Ryuma also used this same style, wielding it through the shadow Brook once lost to him, and demonstrated the techniques at a level beyond Brook's own, showing how devastating they become in the hands of a power-type swordsman rather than a speed-type. Signature attacks include Hanauta Sancho: Yahazu Giri, a slash so swift the victim only notices it after walking several paces, and Aubade Coup Droit, a thrust that fires a compressed burst of air. After the timeskip Brook layered freezing effects and hypnotic music onto his repertoire, producing moves such as Kasuriuta: Fubuki Giri and Phrase d'armes: Orchestra. In an SBS drawing, Oda gave the sword a human form, picturing it as an aged woman whose face was lined with wrinkles, her hair pale, dressed in white.
