The Gatekeeper of Hell, Pet Shop, Part 2

Trapped in the sewers and outmatched by Horus and its ice, Iggy finds his paw locked in a frozen block with no way to dodge Pet Shop's next volley. The falcon soon discovers, however, that the dog has bitten off his own paw and dived into the water. While the Joestar group waits in vain for the beggar and realizes a Stand user must have struck him, Iggy reaches the bottom of the Nile, sheltering beneath a dome of sand shaped by The Fool.

Pet Shop proves able to dive as well, holding his breath even longer than a dog thanks to his air sacs, and hunts down the dome. The Fool turns one icicle back against the bird, but Pet Shop tries to crush the shelter under a slab of ice. Digging downward for escape, Iggy runs straight into the waiting falcon.

Cornered as Pet Shop charges a point-blank icicle, Iggy uses the force of the collapsing dome to launch himself forward and clamps the bird's beak shut just as it readies an ice missile, forcing Pet Shop to destroy himself. Drained of blood and near drowning, Iggy drifts through memories of his days as king of New York's stray dogs before the boy he once rescued pulls him to safety.

A fully recovered Kakyoin then finds Iggy and has a Speedwagon Foundation doctor treat his wounds before rejoining the others. Iggy leads the group to DIO's mansion, which they recognize at once by its architecture and the dreadful aura it gives off. Having crossed half the world and defeated countless Stand users, they stand at their final destination. As they open the front door, a strange endless corridor stretches before them, and another of DIO's servants, Telence T. D'Arby, steps forward to meet them.

The adaptation weaves flashbacks of Iggy's earlier life through the moment he sinks into the river, and adds recollections of the group's past battles once they reach the mansion. Commentary noted that Iggy's finishing move is a genuine suicidal lunge rather than a Stand attack, and that the arrival scene was deliberately lengthened with extra shots so each crusader could reflect on what brought them this far.

A piece of trivia notes that the first opening theme, STAND PROUD, plays during the interlude as the crusaders reach the mansion, and D'Arby's late appearance sets up the following episode.
