Summary

The prelude confirms Kokichi Muta, the remotely piloted Mechamaru, as the Kyoto school's mole. He turns on his former partners, battling Mahito with his giant Mode: Absolute puppet and a hidden Simple Domain trick, but the curse fakes a loss to slip in close and kill him. Ten days later, the trap closes. A vast curtain seals Shibuya, drawing sorcerers in while terrified civilians cry out for Gojo. When the strongest sorcerer arrives, he tears through Hanami and the curses at the Fukutoshin platform, only for the Geto imposter to step into the open and trigger the Prison Realm. The loophole requires that one minute pass inside Gojo's own mind, and as memories flood him he is sealed away. The imposter reveals himself as a brain transplanted into Geto's preserved body.

With Gojo gone, the night descends into chaos. Yuji races to warn the others while teams scatter across the district. Across countless duels, Megumi and Yuji unravel the technique of curse user Awasaka, Mei Mei dispatches the Smallpox Deity, and a seance summons the dead Toji into a host body. Toji exorcises the water curse Dagon before recognizing his son Megumi and ending his own borrowed life. Yuji battles a grief-stricken Choso and clashes repeatedly with Mahito. The turning point comes when Jogo force-feeds Yuji ten of Sukuna's fingers, granting the King of Curses extended control. Sukuna toys with and kills Jogo, slaughters the Hasaba twins, then defeats the freshly summoned Mahoraga shikigami by exploiting his own domain, devastating a huge swath of Shibuya in the process before returning the body to a horrified Yuji.

Aftermath

The tragedies mount. Nanami, exhausted and surrounded, is murdered by Mahito after entrusting everything to Yuji, sending the boy into a furious final clash. Mahito splits himself to corner Nobara as well, transfiguring her in a bid to break Yuji's spirit. By dawn the Shibuya Incident leaves Tokyo nearly destroyed, with ordinary people and politicians missing and curses loose in the streets. Yuta Okkotsu returns from overseas as the only special grade the higher-ups can command, and they appoint him Yuji's executioner while sentencing the Geto imposter and Masamichi Yaga to death and forbidding anyone from freeing Gojo, decisions that set the stage for the Culling Game.
