Jinichi Zenin

Jinichi was a broad, muscular man in middle age, his black hair spiked and his face framed by a short goatee, a mustache, sideburns, and thick brows. An X-shaped scar crossed his forehead above small, beady black eyes. He dressed in a gray kimono and went everywhere barefoot.

Stern and emotionally flat, Jinichi rarely let any feeling show and almost never voiced his irritation, choosing instead to act on it at once. When Naoya mocked his appearance, Jinichi struck him without a single word, and he commanded enough respect that lower-ranking clan members went out of their way to avoid drawing his ire. His temper around his younger brother Toji ran especially short, as he attacked Naoya the instant the Hei's captain so much as mentioned Toji's name, and he had no qualms about scheming to frame and murder his own nephew, Megumi. Like the rest of the clan's upper tier, he upheld Zenin tradition only where it served him, sharing their hunger to cling to the family's fortune and standing; when Naobito named Megumi his heir, Jinichi and the others moved quickly to conspire against the decision and hold onto their money and political power.

As a special grade 1 sorcerer and a member of the Hei, the strongest fighters the Zenin Clan could field, Jinichi was unquestionably powerful, yet he and the entire unit were swept aside with ease during Maki's avenging assault on the clan. During the Culling Game period he was present as the household awaited word on Naobito's condition, and he traded blows with Naoya before Furudate emerged to announce the leader's death and read the will naming Megumi as successor should Gojo vanish. Refusing to surrender the family fortune, Jinichi explained to Naoya that they would exploit the higher-ups' rule executing anyone who tried to free Gojo, pinning a rebel label on Maki, Mai, and Megumi alike. When Maki killed Ogi during the execution attempt, Jinichi regrouped with the Hei and confronted her alongside Chojuro and Ranta; while Ranta pinned her with his restraining technique, Jinichi cut loose with his own ability and battered her under a barrage of giant fists, but it accomplished nothing, and he was beheaded moments later. That innate ability, Missile Fists, conjures enormous fists driven through the air by cursed energy like missiles to accompany his own physical punches, and he could form at least seven at once, each large and forceful enough to crush a building during a barrage.
