Summary

Haunted by Shibuya and unable to scrub the blood from his hands, Yuji has been thinning out the curses overrunning the city alongside Choso. The episode opens mid-chase, with a colossal curse hurling Yuji through skyscrapers until both crash into a theater. When the dust clears, Yuji finds himself gripping the edge of a katana aimed at his face, held by Yuta. Earlier that day, Naoya Zenin learned that Naobito's will named Megumi, not himself, as the clan's next head should Gojo perish, igniting his rage.

Determined to use Yuji as bait to lure and kill Megumi, Naoya tracks the boys to Shibuya and blitzes them with baffling speed. Their fight is interrupted when an immense presence announces Yuta, who descends to fulfill his role. Naoya strikes a bargain to let Yuta delay reporting the execution, and Choso urges Yuji to flee while he stalls the Zenin prodigy.

Notes

The season three premiere covers chapter 138 onward through part of chapter 141 and introduces Naoya Zenin, Jinichi Zenin, Ogi Zenin, and Furudate. The opening chase and theater ambush are anime-original, replacing a street fight from the manga. Numerous combat beats were expanded, including Yuji's car-dodging knife sequence and the destruction of the vehicles Yuta hurls. Gojo's lesson on imbuing objects with cursed energy was also visually dramatized for the adaptation.
