The series premiere introduces Yuji Itadori, an athletic high schooler whose life changes when his Occult Club unleashes a cursed object. To save his friends, Yuji swallows one of Ryomen Sukuna's fingers and becomes the King of Curses' vessel.
Yuji Itadori would rather pass time with the Occult Research Club than sprint on the track, his extraordinary athleticism notwithstanding. The recent loss of his grandfather coincides with his club stumbling into the harsh reality of cursed spirits. Joining forces with jujutsu student Megumi Fushiguro, Yuji sets out to exorcise the curses overrunning his school and to recover the dangerous cursed object known as Ryomen Sukuna.
The episode opens on a future moment: Yuji wakes bound to a chair before the blindfolded Satoru Gojo, who tells him his secret execution has been scheduled. Rewinding, Megumi searches Sugisawa High for a cursed object and is told by Gojo he cannot go home until it is found. At the Occult Club, the student council threatens closure, but Yuji cements his place by hurling a shot put like a baseball and shattering the world record. He then visits the hospital, where his grandfather, after a final argument, urges him to use his gifts to save others so he can die surrounded by people, then passes away.
That night, club members Sasaki and Iguchi unwrap the talisman and discover Sukuna's finger, triggering a swarm of curses. Megumi summons his Divine Dogs and cuts through them, but cannot reach the trapped students in time. Yuji crashes through a window to rescue his friends, only for a curse to ambush them and brutally injure Megumi. With the finger nearly lost, Yuji catches it in his mouth and eats it, incarnating Ryomen Sukuna to gain the power to fight. Though Yuji wrestles back control of his body, Megumi recognizes the worst case has arrived and prepares to exorcise the now-cursed Yuji Itadori.
Adapted from the opening of Chapter 2 and from Chapter 1, this episode belongs to the Fearsome Womb arc and uses Kaikai Kitan by Eve as its opening. It was screened early on September 19, 2020 through Toho Animation's YouTube channel, a premiere version that ran without an opening and closed on a unique end-credits sequence set to the track Your Battle Is My Battle. The adaptation expands several beats from the manga, including a new scene of Yuji phoning the hospital, an extended search for the finger, a lengthened spider metaphor in Megumi's explanation of curses, and an extended fight with the rugby-field curse. It also makes clearer that Megumi was attempting to summon Mahoraga at the moment Sukuna seemed to reincarnate.

The transformation everyone knows, the follow-up question nobody would touch. Why we made a smooth R&B track about the golden glow Dragon Ball never talks about....

Five Bleach female characters, ranked and settled. Yoruichi sits at number five, the spot nobody expects, and our number one is an Arrancar with a soft heart....
