With the Zenin clan nearly wiped out, Maki confronts her mother as Naoya, alive but broken, stumbles toward a darkly fitting end. Maki hands her sister to Momo and walks on alone to finish what she started.
Maki has all but erased the Zenin clan, and only her mother remains to face. Naoya survives his beating but meets a grimly poetic fate. Once the dust settles, Maki leaves Mai's body in another's care and keeps moving forward, determined to see her vow through to the end.
Maki tracks her mother to a kitchen and finds her panicked and pleading for distance. When Maki presses her about the warning given before she entered the cursed warehouse, the woman, too rattled to remember, can only ask what she means. Maki steps closer, her mother cries out, and blood paints the wall. Both the Hei and the Kukuru Unit lie dead across the grounds.
Naoya, bleeding badly from the face, wanders inside and collapses through a door, mocking Maki for failing to kill him. He does not notice his battered aunt approaching from behind, her throat cut and a kitchen knife in her grip. Drained of the cursed energy he would need to defend himself, Naoya is stabbed in the back as she sinks down onto him, the two of them dying together. He spits an insult, but ends helplessly. As she fades, Maki and Mai's mother confesses she was glad to have brought the twins into the world.
Maki carries Mai's body out of the estate. Momo Nishimiya arrives too late, having trailed Mai out of worry after warning her not to leave Kyoto, and breaks down weeping over her regret. Maki gives Mai into Momo's keeping and walks away in silence, Mai's blade in hand, ignoring the question of what she will do next. The official record states the absent Zenin members all died violently with only faint traces of a cursed tool found. Afterward the Gojo and Kamo clans move to strip the Zenin name from the Big Three families, a verdict Jujutsu Headquarters leaves pending.
This nine-page chapter, the epilogue of the Perfect Preparation sequence, closes out the Zenin storyline within Volume 17 and is covered in anime Episode 51. The mother's dying line frames the entire massacre with bitter tenderness, and Naoya's death lands as a deliberate echo of the cruelty he showed throughout the arc.
