Summary

Brushing off the instructions Nanami and Ijichi pass along by phone, Yuji breaks away to reach Junpei before the boy crosses a line from which there is no return. Blows are traded at Satozakura High School, yet winning was never Yuji's real goal. He fights to touch the person hidden beneath Junpei's sorrow, holding out an open palm in place of a finishing strike. The whole time, Mahito lingers out of sight, his hand still steering every choice Junpei makes.

Key Events

While Nanami and the grade 2 sorcerer Takuma Ino battle a horde of cursed spirits within Mahito's old hideout, Nanami orders Yuji to stay put and wait until the team can regroup. Yuji will not. Wracked with guilt over Yuji's earlier death, Ijichi moves to block the path, but Yuji pushes through and goes on by himself. In the clash that follows, he shakes off one of the jellyfish shikigami called Moon Dregs, throws Junpei out a window, and connects with a cursed-energy-loaded punch, echoing Gojo's advice to target the summoner instead of the summon. Junpei retaliates, driving a stinger into Yuji's shoulder, yet Yuji refuses to evade and instead urges the boy to join him at Jujutsu High, where the two could track down whoever cursed his mother as a team. Just as that offer leaves Yuji's mouth, Mahito comes down the stairs and enters the scene.
