Personality

Among the often grim ranks of sorcerers, Ino stands out as upbeat, sincere, and generally optimistic. He freely admits he is not the cleverest person around and holds Nanami in deep regard, falling back on the question of what his mentor would do whenever a decision proves hard. Doing the job honestly matters enormously to him, which is why he refuses promotion to grade 1 until Nanami endorses it. His youthful, little-brother energy makes others instinctively look out for him, though he can be prickly about being teased and tends to over-explain things to his juniors to seem mature. When Nanami finally hands him command of Yuji and Megumi, Ino takes the responsibility to heart, using his bright attitude to rally the squad before their dangerous mission.

History

A close colleague of Nanami's, Ino operates out of Tokyo Jujutsu High and first proves himself by clearing a room of Transfigured Humans on his own during the Night Parade of a Hundred Demons, a task Nanami trusted him with completely. During the Shibuya Incident he is folded into Nanami's team and eventually placed in charge of the two first-years, coordinating with them to pin down enemy curse users and taking on two at once. His honesty and steadiness keep the unit grounded even as the chaos escalates.

His fortunes turn when Granny Ogami activates her Séance Technique. Though he handles an ordinary curse user with ease in close quarters, he reads her scheme too late, and once her grandson assumes the form of Toji Fushiguro he is physically outclassed and beaten nearly to death. He survives, later losing his right eye in the aftermath before regaining it some time afterward. In the climactic struggle against Sukuna he returns to the field wielding Nanami's old blunt sword.

Abilities

Though officially ranked grade 2, Ino's true ability sits well above the label, and Nanami believed he could rise to semi-grade 1 whenever he chose. He is a strong hand-to-hand fighter and a capable tactician, holding his own against curse users in melee. His inherited technique, the Auspicious Beasts Summon, activates when he pulls his mask down over his face and becomes a spiritual medium, letting him channel four sacred creatures. Kaichi fires a spiraling horn cloaked in cursed energy that homes in on its target, Reiki sheathes his body in cursed water for protection and mobility, Kirin numbs his sense of pain at the cost of leaving him drained and later immobile, and Ryu manifests a serpentine dragon that surges from his hands into the enemy. He also commands New Shadow Style: Simple Domain, an anti-domain measure that strips a domain of its guaranteed hit, which he used to weather Sukuna's Malevolent Shrine. In the final battle he carries Nanami's Blunt Sword, a cursed tool imbued with the Ratio Technique that splits a target along a seven-to-three weak point and proved tough enough to survive a kick from Sukuna.
