Lock Down

Character

Lock Down pins an object to the exact spot in space it occupies, freezing it where it stands. Ken Takagi triggers it by touch, through fingertip ridges shaped like the teeth of a key, which makes shifting terrain his specialty and living opponents his blind spot.

Mechanics

Whatever the user touches gets fastened to a fixed coordinate in space and stops moving entirely. Rock Lock channels the effect through ridges along his fingers that look like key teeth, pressing them against his target to seal it in place. The trick proves especially handy against terrain that will not hold still, though only up to a point.

Two ceilings constrain it. Objects that are too large, or that carry too much force behind them, shrug the effect off. Living creatures are outside its reach altogether, which keeps it from ever being used to simply freeze a villain where he stands.

Notable Users

Ken Takagi is the Quirk's sole holder. His signature application is Deadbolt: he lays a hand on a nearby surface, sweeps it through a half turn, and locks down the whole area surrounding him. He first deploys the technique against Joi Irinaka.
