Soul

Soul, written in Japanese as Sōru, belongs to Rody Soul and was introduced in the film My Hero Academia: World Heroes' Mission. It is listed as an Emitter Quirk with long range.

Rather than producing an effect, the power produces a creature. Pino is a little pink bird bound to Rody's inner self, permanently switched on, and everything she does broadcasts what he genuinely thinks and feels.

She is the second instance in the franchise of a Quirk that exists as a living thing, following Dark Shadow, and both are voiced by whoever plays the host they belong to, though for Pino that only holds true in the English dub, paired with Rody's child performer. Pino is consistently referred to as female, notwithstanding the gender of the boy she belongs to.

The obvious drawback is that lying stops working. Whatever Rody says out loud, Pino telegraphs the feeling underneath it, so any gap between the two is visible to anyone watching.

She is also tethered to his physical condition. Harm done to Rody registers on her as well. When a laser turret put a shot through him and blood loss started dragging him under, Pino flickered out of existence for a time.

Rody finds the whole arrangement embarrassing enough that he avoids explaining it to people, though Izuku Midoriya thought highly of the Quirk once he understood it.

Rody Soul is the only holder. He learned to weaponize the very transparency that constrains him, using Pino to sell a feint. During the climactic clash with Flect Turn he appeared to be turning on Izuku, and it was Pino who exposed the betrayal as theater.

Because Pino is a creature in her own right, Rody can also give her orders. He deployed her as a diversion while fleeing from Izuku, and later had her punch in a deactivation code when he was barely holding on to consciousness. She acts independently too, always in line with his real wishes: she roused Izuku after Rody made off with the briefcase, which amounted to Rody wanting to be stopped.

Her decisive moment came with the Trigger Bombs. Pino retrieved the disarming key while Rody dodged Flect's turret fire, one of which tore through his chest. As he faltered on the way to the control center she vanished in front of him, then rallied despite her weakened state to enter the key and shut the bombs down with under a second remaining.

The film frames Soul as the inverse of Flect Turn's Reflect. One reveals Rody's true feelings through a companion; the other bounces back anything that makes contact, which left Flect injuring people without intent and drove him out of society.
