Gori

A mountain gorilla's head sits atop a thickset human frame. His working dress is a dark gray suit finished with a black tie, and the Final War sees him trade that for armored police gear.

He runs an interrogation firmly but fairly, and his read on people is sharp. He saw at once that La Brava had trailed Gentle Criminal out of devotion rather than compulsion, and Gentle's continued efforts to shield her told him the attachment ran both directions. He also holds that people are capable of turning around, and he said as much to Gentle, pressing him toward a second start.

Hardened criminals get a colder version of him. He ordered Kyudai Garaki to keep quiet in his cell, though he still let the doctor speak once the subject turned to Dabi's origins.

Gori first appears once Gentle Criminal turns himself over to the clones of Hound Dog and Ectoplasm, his bid to get inside the U.A. School Festival having collapsed. Gentle's claim was that La Brava had been brainwashed into assisting him; Gori dismissed it immediately, noting that brainwashing is easy to test for and warning him off feeble lies. Reading the man's background, he concluded that Danjuro had chased his dream until he lost track of where it was taking him, and told him that being stopped early was a mercy. He judged him neither too lazy to begin again nor the sort to grab for quick results, which meant reform was within reach. Danjuro, moved, asked for black tea; Gori brought instant.

After the Paranormal Liberation War he sat in on Garaki's interrogation, the doctor having been arrested once his ties to the Paranormal Liberation Front came out, and drew from him what he knew about Tomura's revival. When the Near High-Ends and Tomura tore Tartarus open, freeing All For One, and then swept through other maximum-security prisons, Mikuzu Prison alone recorded no escapees. Gori went to investigate and found that Gentle had held the entire population single-handed. Offered anything in thanks, Gentle asked only to see La Brava and to keep helping so he could repay his debt. Both requests were granted, and the pair were cleared to aid the heroes in the coming war.

The Final War left him minding the inmates. Garaki, noting the thin guard roster, volunteered the story of All For One's search for warped candidates to raise as potential vessels for Tomura, Toya Todoroki among them. Gori asked whether this was another case of everything having been planned from the start; Garaki called it a warning instead, since Toya had never been manipulable, escaped, became Dabi, and stayed alive only on the hatred he carried for Endeavor. Gori was then sent with riot units to reinforce Central Hospital against Spinner's march of fifteen thousand heteromorphs, a defense manned by roughly two hundred heroes and officers. With no reinforcements to summon, he ordered his people to hold with taser shields while the attackers deliberately split and isolated them. The assault collapsed once the hospital staff's resolve and Mezo Shoji's argument reached the crowd, and the instigators were arrested.

Days after the war ended, Gori released Gentle from prison and watched him reunite with La Brava at the station, telling the pair that their contributions had been officially acknowledged and had earned them a pardon, then wishing them luck.
