Appearance

What passes for his head is a yellow sunflower, fixed in a permanently pleasant expression. The yellow carries across his ears and neck as well, though brown hair grows at the back of the skull and his hands are an ordinary tan. He stands tall, and dresses for the role in a white hoodie under a pink apron.

Personality

He presents as warm. Greeting Toya Todoroki, he tells the boy that everyone in the building is his family now. Whether any of that is genuine is impossible to say, given that the children he tends are being grown as spare bodies for All For One, and given that his orders come from that villain and from Kyudai Garaki directly.

The most that can be said in his favor is that none of the other children show any mark of harm or neglect. He also tries to calm Toya when the boy turns on All For One through the screen, and is attacked and burned for the effort.

History

Haruaki works as caretaker at an orphanage belonging to Kyudai Garaki, minding children held in reserve as vessels should anything happen to Tomura Shigaraki. All For One found Toya Todoroki nearly dead from his own Blueflame, brought him there, and had the body repaired while he lay unconscious for three years.

Toya eventually wakes, bewildered to be alive, and another child tells him how long he has been out. He panics and insists on going home, and Haruaki steps in to say he cannot leave, that this is his family now. Toya argues that his father was simply busy with hero work, that he has to apologize for the awful thing he did and for the words he threw at his mother, that he can still prove he is hero material. All For One answers through a computer: the body is permanently damaged and rebuilt with special regenerative tissue, the nervous system and the sense of pain are blunted, the flames will never be what they were. The offer to restore his power in exchange for staying and learning is refused outright, since Toya will accept no teacher but his father. He lashes out at the machine, turns his fire on the caretaker who tries to settle him, and leaves the building burning behind him.

The weakened flames never finish the job and the fire is put out. To keep the orphanage's purpose buried, Kyudai pinned the blaze on Haruaki. Nobody died, the incident stayed out of public view, and neither the heroes nor the authorities ever learned what the place was for. His own Quirk is unnamed and appears responsible for the sunflower face; what else it grants him is unknown.
