The Mother of Quirks

Little survives about how she looked, beyond long brown hair.

Her son's power arrived in an era when hostility toward the Meta-abled ran at its worst, and she loved and shielded him through all of it. She understood precisely what that discrimination cost people, and she argued for a world in which nobody was scorned for what they had been born with, holding that line through ridicule and open hatred.

Destro's mother raised her child during an age of chaos, when Meta Abilities frightened the public and those who carried them were despised. Chikara was born with a power and treated as a monster for having it. She refused the framing outright: his ability, she insisted, made the boy no monster, and amounted to nothing more than one of his quirks. Change, she demanded of them, build a society where children like hers hold the same rights and standing as anyone else. Nobody listened, and an Anti-Quirk faction murdered her for saying it.

Once order returned and powers won acceptance, the authorities took up her wording, and the woman entered history as the Mother of Quirks. That acceptance came bundled with regulations restricting how such powers could be used. Chikara Yotsubashi read this as theft, his mother's language stripped of everything she had meant by it, and rebelled. Under the name Destro he founded the Meta Liberation Army to pursue what he believed she had actually wanted.
