Chapter 357

All For One barely shields himself as Endeavor's fire pours over him. He had expected pressure, but not this; the last person to make him relive the agony of his first clash with All Might was All Might himself. A wounded hero, he reminds himself, is always the most dangerous kind.

Hawks' wings shove Endeavor forward, letting him break through the guard and land a Vanishing Jet Burn that hurls All For One down onto the Gunga Mountain. The heroes below react in shock. In the air, Hawks asks why Endeavor did not simply open with Prominence Burn. Endeavor explains that the guard was up, and that with a limited number of uses he has to break the defence open first to guarantee the hit connects. He dives after the villain, and Kamui Woods and the rest scatter out of the path of the rampage. Endeavor takes hold of All For One and drags him through the forest. Maskless and losing command of his own body, All For One reaches out to strip the Quirk from him, and Endeavor answers by burning the hand off with fire from his eyes.

Endeavor tells him those hands only ever wrecked other people's futures. All For One replies that Endeavor's did the same, and Endeavor agrees without hesitation. Toya is the shape of his errors, and a great many futures were stolen because of them. But the future belongs to the young, so he intends to win here and keep the past out of their way. The penance continues, he says, because it is what lets him go on watching over Toya, and the rage will keep burning either way. Then he fires the Prominence Burn. Holding the blackened remains, he reasons that Hyper Regeneration was already ruled out, and that surviving a hit like that would take the kind of flesh Tomura is carrying. Hawks screams at him to get clear. All For One speaks up, asking whether Endeavor really thought he would arrive at the decisive battle with nothing in reserve. The body was always scheduled for disposal, so he decides to run an experiment. The Quirk-Destroying Drug flickers into view alongside Eri while fresh sense organs, first an ear and then an eye, push their way out of him. Grinning, he asks who told Endeavor that heroes had a monopoly on sacrificial moments, and observes that villains, too, are at their worst when wounded. Far away, Yoichi Shigaraki feels something turn and tells the airborne Deku that something about this sits badly with him, as distant figures begin closing in.

Endeavor presses his assault and blasts All For One down through the Gunga Mountain, declaring that atoning for his mistakes means ending All For One so the next generation gets a better future. He connects with Prominence Burn and appears to have killed him.

All For One survives and begins regrowing his eyes and ears, apparently through the Quirk-Restoring Drug. Elsewhere, something wrong registers with Yoichi while a handful of unidentified figures race toward Deku.

Wounded Hero, Burning Bright and True!! occupies slot 357 in the manga by Kohei Horikoshi. Fifteen pages long and collected in Volume 36, it ran in issue 30 of 2022 on June 27, with All For One, Endeavor and All Might on the cover.

A Final War arc chapter, its pages were divided in adaptation: pages 1 to 14 in Episode 148 and page 15 in Episode 150. Trivia notes that Endeavor firing beams from his eyes recalls Superman's Heat Vision, and that the panel of his fiery fist mid-fire-breath was inspired by the then recent RuriDragon, Horikoshi wanting to show that his series had a Ruri too. His author comment marks an editor change, thanking Taguchi and welcoming Imamura.
