Chapter 92 (Vigilantes)

Reporters swarm the entrance of Might Tower when All Might comes home from a seventy-two hour stretch of back to back rescues, a run that sets a fresh record. He thanks the crowd for calling him the Symbol of Peace, spreads the credit to every other hero and ordinary citizen keeping the country standing, then slips behind his Might Gate. Out of costume and into pyjamas, he asks Sir Nighteye whether any work is left. His assistant, buried in paperwork, tells him sleep is the only assignment that matters.

Rest never arrives. Might Sense fires, and Nighteye catches an emergency dispatch routed up from Osaka. The city triggers the All Might Emergency Paging System, better known as the Might Signal, and mascots and advertisements across the district flip into All Might's likeness to broadcast that help is coming. Nighteye argues for letting the local heroes try first, but the call names All Might personally, so he suits up and launches.

Down in the parking structure, Tiger Bunny has gotten clear, and O'Clock urges The Rapper to find cover before All Might lands. The Rapper would rather keep trading blows with the Hooded Man, which pins O'Clock in place to help him survive it. Kurogiri presses for withdrawal to preserve the test subjects and O'Clock himself, yet All For One will not miss the bout. He lays a hand on one unconscious body after another and pushes his Quirk through each of them, framing villainy for Kurogiri as a matter of balance: will and Quirk that reinforce one another produce resolve and heroes, while a savage will that whips a Quirk into a frenzy, or a Quirk that warps its owner's will, produces something dangerous. Force any power to rage, he reasons, and anyone can be tipped over. The maddened fighters prove the point, tearing past Eizo Tanuma, Tiger Bunny and the police, then spilling onto the streets where civilians and a young Fat Gum scatter. Kurogiri warns that the mess points straight back at his master. All For One accepts that risk gladly, still fixed on O'Clock and the Overclock Quirk he means to take.

All Might's life before his injury fills in considerably. He already keeps a true form for off-duty hours, though it carries none of the later gauntness, Sir Nighteye already runs his schedule and his paperwork, and he tracks trouble using Might Sense alongside his Might Ears. The Might Signal goes up for the first time on record.

The Rapper's refusal to stand down traps O'Clock into holding the line until All Might can reach them. All For One meanwhile drives the surviving Masquerade attendees into an uncontrolled Quirk rampage and pushes them into the streets as a distraction, an early rehearsal for what eventually becomes the Instant Villains.

All For One's stated priority here is neither escape nor profit. He wants to watch O'Clock fight, and he wants Overclock, and he is willing to hand the heroes a clue about his involvement to get both.
