Chapter 95

Twenty-four hours after the battle, the country knows two things it was never meant to: what All Might really looks like, and that he will never fight again. The uncertainty that follows is enormous. At Police Force headquarters, officials tally results. The captured Nomu have yielded nothing beyond hints at how they are manufactured, All For One sits in a cell, and the League of Villains has lost its ringleader. One voice calls that a win. Another refuses the word, because losing the Symbol of Peace will invite villainy back, and because imprisoning the master will only drive Tomura Shigaraki to grow. A third officer names the real failure: they leaned on one man for too long. The Force cannot keep waiting on the sidelines to collect whoever the heroes knock down, and its policies have to change.

In a hospital bed, bandaged, Toshinori accepts that One For All is spent and that the Symbol is finished, then says there is still work left in him. Naomasa Tsukauchi cannot get past the revelation that Tomura is Nana Shimura's grandson, and asks whether she ever spoke about family. Gran Torino fills the gap: her husband was murdered, she placed her son in foster care to keep him clear of the hero world, and she told both men to stay out of the boy's life. Toshinori wants to find Tomura anyway. Gran Torino refuses him, because he could never look at that face and see a villain, so the search belongs to himself and Naomasa. What belongs to Toshinori is U.A. and the successor waiting there.

The students trickle home from Kamino. Izuku's group meets Shoto Todoroki and Momo Yaoyorozu, delivers Katsuki Bakugo to a police station for safekeeping, then splits up. Shoto finds his sister at the door and his father in the training hall, and assumes the No. 1 ranking is about to fall to him. The room is destroyed instead, wrecked by a man refusing the title. Izuku reaches his mother, collapses on his bed, and wonders whether saving Katsuki was right. A message from Toshinori that evening sends him running. At Takoba Municipal Beach Park his mentor greets him with a Texas Smash, then demonstrates the truth by flickering into hero form for barely a second. Retirement is not a choice, he explains, it is a condition. He scolds the boy for never once doing as told, admits relief that this reckless streak cost him nothing this time, then pulls him into an embrace and apologizes for the mentoring he failed to provide. From here, Izuku is all he intends to work on. Izuku cries, gets scolded for that too, and understands at last that the age of All Might is over.

All Might formally retires as the Symbol of Peace, and the Police Force debates how to handle the aftermath and the villains it expects to surface.

Tomura's lineage as Nana Shimura's grandson comes to light, and Gran Torino and Naomasa take over the hunt for him rather than let Toshinori near it.

The Kamino students return home. Shoto discovers Endeavor raging against the No. 1 rank he has inherited, and Izuku reunites with All Might on the beach, where his mentor commits to being the teacher he has not been.

The Kamino Incident concludes with this chapter. Locations span Kamino, the Todoroki Abode, the Midoriya Apartment and Takoba Municipal Beach Park, the same shoreline where Izuku's training began.
