Fudō

Tall and heavily built, Fudō keeps his black hair short and unkempt above a striking face: a wide jaw, a jutting brow, and clear creases beneath his eyes, with black triangles marked on each cheek. His outfit recalls a qipao, sleeveless and green with yellow, blue, and purple striping along the edges, worn over brown trousers and a brown undershirt, straw sandals on his feet and black bands wrapping each arm from bicep to forearm.

Fudō carries himself with towering self-regard. In his opening fight against Team Yamato he mocks Fuen for failing to credit him with springing their trap. That same arrogance breeds a habit of writing off his enemies, which hands cleverer opponents the opening they need to turn a battle around.

Chosen by Kazuma for the campaign against Konoha, Fudō is a genuinely dangerous ninja, able to stand against some of the village's finest and to spearhead an attack that shredded much of its defense. He fights up close with punishing taijutsu, backed by raw physical power: he tears free of Yamato's wood bindings and drives straight through solid rock. His chakra reserves run deep enough to throw out large techniques one after another without flagging, and his control is fine enough to form seals with a single hand, to load his palm strikes with extra force, or to etch precise markings into stone.

His true specialty is Earth Release, which he wields with real craft. He splits open wide canyons, collapses the ground, warps the earth, and skewers foes on stone spikes, or raises walls, sinking pits, and prisons of rock to hold them. His most frequent trick is a stone skin drawn from the surrounding rock, an armor that turns aside nearly any physical blow while making his own hits more devastating. He can also work the earth-natured Corpse Soil, raising the dead in great numbers as mindless zombies; the risen lack their old skills, reason, and strength and fall easily, but climb back out of the ground the instant they are destroyed.

As part of Furido's scheme to wipe out Konoha, Fudō joins Fuen and Fūka in robbing the graves of Seito, Nauma, Kitane, and Tōu, four of the Twelve Guardian Ninja who once mastered the Limelight, a technique with the power to erase a village in seconds. Alerted by Chiriku that the Fire Temple's graves have been plundered, Team 7 gives chase, and the robbers scatter them among a maze of pillars to pick them off. Fudō draws Yamato and pours on his earth attacks and taijutsu, forcing him onto the back foot, and finally seals him inside a bedrock coffin, not realizing Yamato has let it happen in order to study his patterns. Later, during the strike on Konoha itself, Fudō batters through the defenses and calls up hundreds of undead to tie down the remaining shinobi. Facing Yamato once more, he is undone when his opponent, aware of how heavy the stone armor is, floods the ground with water so that Fudō sinks into it, then crushes him with Wood Release: Tree Bind Flourishing Burial. His death cancels the reanimation, and every zombie across the village crumbles to dust.
