Neon Asakusa

Neon is a fair-skinned girl of ordinary height with purple eyes and brown hair cut into a chin-length bob, the right side tucked behind her ear. She wears a grey headband and purple glasses whose round lenses are half-rimmed along the bottom. Her outfit is an orange shirt worn under grey overalls.

Quiet and easily flustered, Neon is an insecure girl who tends to let others push her around. That timidity sits beside a genuinely caring heart, one that frets over how the people near her feel. Even after Osuka pinned the blame for a prank against Kae on her, Neon still consoled her crying friend and chose to stay close, refusing to hold a grudge. She understands that Osuka's sharp moments spring from loneliness and difficulty making friends, and she is mature enough to look past such faults to the kind girl underneath.

Neon and Osuka Kamakura grew up together, their mothers being longtime friends, and when Osuka's parents grew too consumed by film work to spend time with their daughter, Neon was asked to keep her company. During the Kawaki and Himawari Academy Arc she entered a new class placed under the teacher Hana Kaka, seated beside Osuka. When Osuka, unwilling to be outshone by Kae, forced her to slip mustard into Kae's cake using her drone, Neon carried it out but soon confessed, and Kae scolded Osuka for mistreating her; Neon comforted her friend all the same.

She proved a clever hand with technology, testing Kaminarimon prototypes for her parents and steering a camera-mounted drone through tight spaces and delicate tasks. Grouped for practice alongside Eiki Fūma and Suzu Sōgi, she also lent her building skill to the class play about the Sannin. When Osuka and Himawari were kidnapped, Neon's drone, fitted with a sensing module, helped Kawaki locate and rescue them. She later crafted haunted-house effects for the school festival, and during survival training on a remote island her group used her drone to investigate strange noises.

The training turned dangerous when the teacher Hana was revealed to be an assassin who had seized Kae. Neon joined her classmates in tracking the pair to a cave, and after Kawaki disclosed that he was truly a shinobi, the students pressed on toward the docks to raise the alarm, where they met Sai and Team 25. With Hana defeated, her teacher persona won out over her killer instinct through the students' encouragement. Once the ordeal ended and Kae had to leave, the class at last performed their Sannin play and saw her off at the station.
