The Princess's Tea Party

Himawari reveals that she has overheard Kawaki's secret assignment to protect their classmate Kae and offers her help, which he brushes aside. Kae, whose delicate upbringing shows in how little she eats, decides to throw a tea party as a way to make friends all at once, upstaging the boastful Osuka, who had been planning a gathering of her own. Aware that he must watch over Kae at the event yet clueless about etiquette, Kawaki reluctantly accepts Himawari's coaching once she insists he cannot simply wing it.

At the party, Kawaki's shaky excuses for being there force Himawari to keep covering for him, while Kae warms to the group as she and Himawari bond over both having fathers who lead. Trouble erupts when the cake arrives, since Osuka has secretly laced it with spicy mustard, and Kawaki, mistaking the smell for poison, upends the tables to stop Kae from taking a bite. The chaos leaves Kae hurt and Kawaki storming off, until Himawari helps him grasp that it was only a prank. Tracing the tampering to a window left open near the freezer, the pair gather proof, and Kawaki produces drone footage from Neon showing that Osuka pressured her into the scheme. Kae confronts Osuka, forgiving her dislike but not her coercion of Neon, and her rare burst of genuine emotion endears her to the whole class.

Episode 262 of the Boruto anime belongs to the Kawaki and Himawari Academy Arc. It aired in Japan on August 14, 2022, and in English on March 26, 2024, with the opening theme Kirarirari and the ending theme Bibōroku. The chapter closes on a lighter beat as Kawaki restarts the party with a heap of taiyaki and finally admits he could use Himawari's help, even while refusing to let her put herself in harm's way.
