Contact! Naruto vs. Itachi

Drifting toward an unknown target, Nagato and Itachi puzzle over who they will be forced to fight, then sense a familiar presence and come face to face with Naruto and Killer B. Their brief reunion is cut off when Kabuto, eager to seize the Eight and Nine-Tails, orders Itachi to attack. B slices through Itachi's giant fireball with Samehada and apologizes to the blade for absorbing the heat. Clashing with Naruto, Itachi speaks of Sasuke and is shaken to learn that Naruto knows the truth behind the fall of the Uchiha; on hearing only a handful of people know, he asks that it stay that way.

Nagato is compelled to strike before the conversation can go further, and the four shinobi join battle. Retreating atop Nagato's summoned bird, Itachi triggers his Mangekyō Sharingan, drawing one of his crows out of Naruto's mouth, then casts Amaterasu to burn Nagato and his summon. The crow carries Shisui Uchiha's Mangekyō Sharingan, rigged to trigger Kotoamatsukami with the command to protect Konoha the moment it sees Itachi's eyes.

Now released from Kabuto's grip, Itachi reveals that this was the safeguard he entrusted to Naruto, one he had meant for his brother. Nagato's body regenerates, and Kabuto, hungry for Shisui's DNA, sends him back into the fight. Concealed within a chameleon summon, Nagato unleashes a massive Shinra Tensei and targets B, who seizes him in a chokehold while in his Version 2 form; Nagato drains B's chakra to restore his youth, then seizes Naruto and prepares to draw out his soul. The episode falls in the Fourth Shinobi World War: Confrontation arc and adapts chapters 548 through 550.
